In 2023, we re-started monthly open meetings, and it's proven to be a great way to exchange ideas and techniques between people new to the network as well as long time practitioners - come join us! Generally held on the first or second Wednesday of each month, RSVP here for November 8th, 2023 and for December 6th, RSVP here.  So far,  we've held them at 11AM ET (your time zone), but if you would like a different time or day, just let us know, we can try it!

Exciting news! there is a new app at the Apple Store and it's made for everyone  who has made a map on our Platform, it helps you find wha's green nearby! 

With COP26 being a pivotal United Nations Climate conference, the Glasgow Green Map takes on more importance as it impacts the experience of the thousands of delegates and civil society participants in the run up to and during this 1-14 November 2021 event. 

In spring 2021, our new Platform was announced thusly:

The world is changing in many ways due to the pandemic.

We are now testing OGM2, the new, improved open source mapping platform! OGM2 is being developed by the GIS Collective, the terrific team of Bogdan Szabo, Alexandra Casapu and Ciprian Samoila (check out their Summer 2019 presentation).

We so appreciate your support - you have made so much possible, locally and globally. We hope everyone can pitch in or subscribe to help the Green Map movement continue its path forward. 

The Cape Town Green Map was initiated as a project in the Host City Cape Town’s Green Goal 2010 Action Plan, the award winning environmental programme for the 2010 Soccer World Cup. It has since endured as a 2010 World Cup legacy project, providing an invaluable source of information for visitors and residents at capetowngreenmap.co.za.

The Green Map organization is based on Manhattan’s Lower East Side, which is getting hotter and more crowded all the time.

#Climate Action Month? We're Participating!

Written in 2019  by Janet Felsten, who ran the Baltimore Green Map for decades!  Looking to help youth collaborate internationally around Climate Change issues? BaltoGreenMap is! And we're excited about the potential for Virtual Exchange with MapWorks Learning's yearlong Global Challenge, connecting students and teachers around the world via its Narrative Atlas platform. The sequence of guided activities aligns well with Baltimore's Green Map Your Community projects and soon Narrative Atlas will utilize Green Map icons. Our young Baltimoreans want to expand their horizons, deepen knowledge and share goals for the future. Leading the way for Green Map System, we want to recruit more Green Mappers from more parts of the world to take part.

Green Mapmakers have produced many types of goods, both to promote and provide Green Maps in new formats. With these examples to inspire you, we are looking forward towards innovative applications on more kinds of goods that are both good for the planet and that generate positive action.
